Qualifications: Bachelors in Accounting (or equivalent) and CPA certification required. Masters of Accounting preferred. 8+ years of tax and/or accounting experience, preferably with a major accounting/consulting practice. Professional experience must include the area of tax accounting. Expert in MS Excel required. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials and Hyperion Financial Management preferred. Candidate must have strong accounting technical skills, focusing on accounting for income taxes; strong tax technical skills, including a general understanding of both U.S. federal and state corporate tax laws; and high-level analytical, communication and collaboration skills. Fluency in Spanish a plus.
Duties: The Sr. Tax Manager oversees the financial reporting for income taxes for the Company's international operations and transactions including reviewing the quarterly tax provision, reconciling current and deferred tax accounts, and testing deferred tax balances. Quarterly provision responsibilities: collaborate with the Legal Entity Accounting team to assure that international operations are reported by proper legal entity, identify book/tax differences (both temporary and non-temporary), determine deferred assets/liabilities and reconcile same to book basis, and identify and evaluate the tax exposures for which tax reserves may need to be established. Research accounting principles and tax law and, in conjunction with Time Warner Tax and other Turner personnel, document transactions and their accounting and tax ramifications. Assist with the implementation and maintenance of tax provision software to facilitate reporting objectives. The Sr. Tax Manager is also responsible for U.S. tax compliance for international operations including: monitor the U.S. federal return preparation and review process for international operations and transactions, deadlines, and workpaper creation with the tax outsourcing provider and coordinate same with members of the department responsible for return review. Manage information flow between finance / accounting departments and the tax outsourcing provider. Research applicable tax law and document return filing positions and recommendations. Assist controllers with proper withholding of tax on foreign vendors. Oversee/assist with Form 1042 and FBAR reporting. Work closely with income tax planners to assure that all planning objectives are carried out and are properly presented and disclosed, as applicable, on the company's tax return filings. Assist in resolving international tax audit issues presented by the IRS or foreign taxing authorities. Assist financial auditors in addressing any quarterly financial reporting matters.
