This is a Full Time Job
The Head of Publicity for the record label will oversee the functions of the publicity and press relations staff in support of artists signed to the label. He or she is tasked with developing a publicity campaign for the artist through collaboration with the department staff and artist’s management by conceptualizing and executing creative media campaigns that successfully expose artists and global superstars across all genres. This role is located in Hollywood.
Key deliverables:
• Track campaigns and review reputation monitoring and press mentions of the artist
• Person will approve publicity budgets and expenditures related to the department’s activities including photos shoot for PR and press materials, press events, and other related costs
• He or she will collaborate with departments in Marketing, Advertising and A&R to design strategies to best support record sales and growth of the labels signed acts.
• Liaise with other departments on cross promotion
• Maintain and develop relationships with key media, including writers, television bookers and online outlets. Work to secure national, regional, and tour press (TV, print, and online) for Capitol artists and their releases
• Write and service press releases/eblasts to the media about artist releases
• Plan, oversee, and attend artist events, appearances, and interviews, as necessary
• Develop story ideas and angles to pitch to press
• Set-up artist releases: coordinate bios, press releases, photos, EPKs, press kits, etc.
• Strategize and implement overall imaging in conjunction with the marketing team
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• 10+ years music industry experience as head of Publicity Department at a record label or an independent music publicity firm
• Strong communication abilities with the ability to write and convey marketing plans/efforts to executives and management
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet key deadlines; creative, outside-the-box type thinking; willingness to travel as needed
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including: PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word
• Degree qualified or equivalent
