Department Description: The Media Relations Department seeks to obtain maximum positive exposure for each WMN artist and to represent the company in all media issues nationwide.
High Level Job Description: The Manager of Publicity will directly oversee media relations for Christian and Country artists that they are designated. They will implement Brand Management’s directives and work closely with the digital team to maximize exposure. They will oversee tour press for their artist’s tours, single and album launches all the while creating a unified publicity plan and presence in the marketplace.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
• Oversee all publicity budgets for each assigned project.
• Report on progress and impact of each release plan at media to the department.
• Act as key artist contact on all media issues.
• Pitch artists for media opportunities and coordinate arrangements.
• Develop relationships with media in order to create partnerships and synergistic opportunities.
• Create and service press releases in conjunction with releases and related artist/company news.
• Update Publicity contact list on regular basis.
• Oversee tour press
• Maintain our blog list.
• Draft press releases.
• Send a weekly and overall monthly publicity reports to designated supervisor(s).
• Work with Warner corporate publicity team on all joint release partnerships and initiatives.
• Utilize and integrate new media resources into all publicity efforts.
• Brainstorm innovative publicity efforts and promotion ideas with various shared services/marketing departments.
• Coordinate and schedule interview requests and media appearances for WMN artists.
• Represent WMN at various media events as needed.
• Help brand WMN as the leader in innovative and creative promotion and publicity efforts.
Required Competencies/Skills:
• Strong presentation skills.
• Strong phone and relationship skills.
• Excels in writing press releases.
Special Requirements/Preferences:
• Some Travel may be required.
• Team management experience required.
• Prior experience with booking national shows.
Education Required/Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Publicity/media experience of 5-7 years minimum.
