We are currently hiring for the position of:
MANAGER, GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
Reporting to the Director, Government Relations, the Manager will be responsible for securing annual and project funding from all levels of government, government agencies, and international governments in support of TIFF's year-round and Festival programming. The Manager, Government Relations will maintain good working relationships with government partners, and overall stewardship of government officials and representatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Leading identification, development, and creation of funding requests for submission to all levels of government and government agencies in conjunction with all departments within TIFF
• Outreach and solicit new government and international consular partners to support and sponsor TIFF initiatives and programming, contributing to achieving a departmental revenue goal of $5.6 million
• Acting as lead contact for TIFF’s relationships with key government agencies, including: Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, the City of Toronto, Embassies and Consulates etc.
• Project management for a number of TIFF initiatives involving government and foundation supporters, including managing project budgets and ensuring compliance with government contracts valued up to $1 million
• Support the Director, Government Relations with TIFF’s government advocacy by drafting government correspondence, government consultation submissions, and participating in meetings with government officials
• Maintaining knowledge of government agencies, staffing, issues, trends, etc.
• Manage the performance and professional development of the Coordinator, Government Relations
• Represent TIFF at external meetings and special events as necessary
JOB GRADE & SALARY:
• Job Grade 3
• Job Grade Salary Range $60,000 - $78,000
TARGET START DATE:
• January 20, 2025
WORK LOCATION:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
• Weekly in-office requirements:
• Minimum 2 days (November to May)
• Minimum 3 days (June to October)
• Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum 3 years experience fundraising / government relations in the cultural sector
• Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent organizational skills, with superior attention to detail.
• Strong research skills, with an ability to retrieve, and efficiently organize and present information.
• Strong networking skills, with an ability to act with tact and diplomacy.
• Knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal governments and how they function
• Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
• This position requires being in office on a regular basis.
