Working with the Discovery+ (D+) Planning Manager and working closely with the VOD Scheduler, D+ Marketing and the Product team, this role will be an integral part of the team responsible for developing D+ as a first-class streaming service competing in the crowded UK market.
The D+ Planning Executive & Editor will support the day-to-day editorial management of the D+ UK service. They will be responsible for assisting the merchandising of D+ content across platforms – ensuring that the frontend user experience is managed to the highest standards, based on viewer insight, content schedules and the latest marketing plans. The role will assist with ensuring that the D+ forward planner and Master Tracker is always kept up to date, allowing the D+ Planning Manager timely and accurate programme availability, linear usage and license information.
In addition to supporting the merchandising of D+ the role will be closely involved with bringing new and exciting editorial suggestions to the service, including archive curation, working closely with the D+ Planning Manager and Insights team.
The D+ Planning Executive & Editor may be required to deputize for others in the Planning team in their absence, maintaining a clear understanding of the scheduling strategies around the linear channels and the logistical and legal issues relating to them.
The job requires a great attention to detail, a pan brand content knowledge, a working understanding of linear and non-linear audience ratings and usage and an ability to provide solutions to the D+ Planning Manager in a manner that is both strategic and creative.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the D+ Master Tracker providing up to the minute content availability and linear planning information to the D+ Planning Manager in order to allow maximum value and content optimization of the inventory
• Work with the D+ Planning Manager to curate strong editorial collections of content around key franchises, core genres and editorial stunts.
• Assist the maintenance of the D+ frontend experience and the day to day merchandising across platforms
• Key point person for linear channel matrix workflow, gathering linear recommendations from the UK Planners and ensuring cross platform clashes to do not occur
• Facilitate weekly editorial session with core D+ stakeholders to plan and operationally execute editorial initiatives
• Assist in developing a strong front door, publishing and promotion strategy to ensure the best content mix based on research insights, the content pipeline, and on-air/online promotional activity
• Work hand in hand with the D+ Planning Manager, Scheduling and Marketing leads across all editorial aspects including content curation, publishing and merchandising – ensuring that any off air or on-air promotions are underpinned by and in sync with the frontend experience
• Assist the D+ Planning Manager in ensuring the VOD Scheduling team, Content Ops & Reversioning have the latest D+ plans and are fully aware and responsive to any changes
• Build strong relationships with and handle day to day enquires from other departments and teams, informing them of initiatives or changes, as required or requested
• Renewals - track when titles are coming out of licence and alert the D+ Planning Manager accordingly
• Perform weekly Legal ''Do Not Air'' checks
• Assist with ensuring programming materials are ready for launch; facilitate regular D+ content premiere meetings with Content Ops and Reversioning
• Work closely with the central D+ product and tech teams and become expert across the tools/systems and workflows required to deliver a first-class user experience.
• Drive curation and placement experiments to inform strategy and increase engagement.
• Assist in providing insight to Planning and Commissioning to influence the D+ content pipeline
• Work closely with D+ Marketing lead and be across the CRM activity to ensure it is aligned with the site experience and can drive customer retention
Qualifications & Experience…
• Programme planning/scheduling experience
• Proficiency in IBMS and TechEdge
• Experience in Word & Excel a must
• Strong understanding of audience research and usage data across linear and non-linear
• Experience of working in a commercial organization
• Love of non-scripted TV content
