Executive Producer, Live Programming, Morning (ABC News Live)
Job Summary:
ABC News is seeking an Executive Producer for live morning programming, reporting to the Senior Executive Producer of ABC News Live.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will oversee a block of live shows in the morning for ABC News Live, Disney's 24/7 streaming news channel. S/he will be responsible for the overall editorial content and quality of the shows during the early part of the day. The candidate must be able to construct a rundown, but also able to react and respond to breaking news at any time of the day. The candidate must be able to ensure our coverage stays true to ABC News' mission of straightforward journalism.
Reporting to the Senior EP, the candidate will lead a team of senior producers, line producers, APs and PAs; as well as work closely with the ABC News Special Events Unit (SPEV) to coordinate production during large events that simulcast across broadcast and streaming channels. The candidate will also work closely with Disney's Direct-to-Consumer & International Team to help execute marketing and promotional campaigns for tentpole live events.
The candidate must be a creative visionary who understands a morning audience's news consumption across all age groups and demographics. S/he knows how to build a brand and is excited by the organizational complexities in trying something new. The EP will help recruit talented producers/showrunners and lead a fast-growing editorial team that handles early and late morning programming.
Collaboration and exceptional leadership skills are required. The EP must have the ability to meet and adapt to changing industry demands; be flexible and able to balance multiple projects/priorities. This is a dynamic person who is passionate and excited about the future of news and media and wants to take a major role in leading and shaping it. The candidate must be willing to work overnights and early mornings, as well as weekends when necessary.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 15 years' production experience in live programming
• Leadership experience in breaking news environments and/or newsgathering
• Must be able to build, time and execute a rundown
• Strong writing skills
• Executive-level presentation and communication skills
• Expertise in translating analytics to action for editorial groups
• A team-first, no-drama working style, with a focus on results
Required Education
• BA or BS from a four year accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
