Your Role:
MPR News seeks a top-notch host for its statewide news magazine, Minnesota Now. This weekday live program with the latest news from around the state puts people first with down-to-earth, unscripted interviews and reports that aim to include, inform, and inspire our audience. We’re looking for an experienced host with a strong, engaging on-air presence, who is comfortable in a dynamic program and is an excellent interviewer; knowledgeable and curious about all things Minnesota – from politics to education to arts and popular culture. This is a position for a smart, energetic, an all-in and unflappable on-air host who is ready to partner with an exceptional team and engage Minnesotans every day.
Expected Compensation Range: This is a union role. The expected salary range for this position is $99,674-119,608. The exact compensation is determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.

Location: St. Paul, MN
Your Responsibility:
• Works with producer(s) to plan, produce, report and execute daily news magazine program
• Research, conduct and edit compelling live and recorded interviews with newsmakers
• Handle on-air duties for special programming and live events as assigned
• Operate control board
• Field report and produce as needed, with audio and visuals for all platforms, including social engagement
• Make public appearances and participate in MPR-sponsored events as assigned
• Participate in on-air fundraising activities
• Other duties, including hosting other programs, news coverage and reporting, as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent work experience.
• Five or more years of news broadcasting or related experience.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• Dedicated to trusted, fact-based, unbiased standards of journalism excellence
• Ability to work with and across teams, producing superior, audience-centric news content
• Exceptional on-air presence, with a credible and engaging style
• Experienced, curious, conversational interviewer
• Ability to take complex detailed information and summarize into a condensed and easy to understand format.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet constant, recurring deadlines
• Ability to work well with and lead program production team
• Demonstrated experience researching, reporting, writing, editing, and engaging audiences on all platforms
• Ability to find unexpected angles in stories, even in saturated topics.

• Knowledgeable, curious and passionate about the people and communities across Minnesota
