Your Role:
The Event Coordinator, On-Call will support the Executive Director and the Live Programming & Events team in the coordination, implementation, and execution of pan-organizational events and activities in The Crawford Family Forum (CFF) at Southern California Public Radio (SCPR)’s Mohn Broadcast Center and off-site in the communities of Southern California.
The live programming & events platform is the centerpiece of SCPR’s effort to bring diverse audiences together and encourage face-to-face discussion and dialogue as part of its multiplatform strategy. This includes producing convenings around LAist broadcast, podcast, and newsroom programming as well as events and activities aligned with SCPR priorities; and creating a much-needed space for civic engagement, both at the CFF and in the communities around Southern California. The live programming & events team also fosters collaborations with internal and external partners to deepen relationships with existing audience, create relationships with new audiences, and support organizational goals related to mission-driven journalism, brand, revenue, and audience engagement on multiple platforms.
As needed, the Event Coordinator, On-Call will provide support for the implementation of on-site and off-site events, including additional uses of the facility. The Event Coordinator, On-Call will occasionally serve as a point of contact to the general public, program participants, vendors and SCPR staff, and is therefore responsible for being an ambassador for LAist and SCPR and ensuring a welcoming, trustworthy and professional atmosphere, both at events and in other communications, such as email and phone calls.
This is an On-Call position, work is on an as needed basis. Hours are not guaranteed. Individuals will be called in (virtually or physically) when needed. Most work at LAist is onsite
Location: Hybrid, Pasadena, CA
Expected Compensation Range: $31.00 - 37.00 /per hour. The exact hourly rate is determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.The pay rate for this opportunity will be no more or less than $60k base, plus commission.

Your Responsibility:
• Support as needed the logistical implementation of pan-organizational events that are consistent with SCPR’s mission, strategic plan, priorities, and organizational standards;
• Support as needed front of house and customer service before, during, and/or after events including serving as house manager when necessary;
• Support as needed the administration of the live programming & events team such as events calendar, online postings, policies and procedures documents, vendor database and relationships, agreements, releases, permits, and/or internal team communications;
• Assist as needed with the coordination of event-related onsite vendors, partners, sponsors, volunteers, and other necessary personnel;
• Assist event patrons as needed on ticket-related business;
• Support as needed the effort to collect audience and event data and track event metrics;
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelors Degree or 2 years of experience with event coordination, theatre, and/or live performances;
• Experience in supporting successful public events.
• Significant experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Interest in public media, events, and/or production.
