The Atlanta Dream is a professional Women's Basketball Team based in Atlanta Georgia and is a place where our team, our fans and our great city come together to represent the community we seek to serve. Position Overview: The Public Relations Intern will assist the communications team with publicity-generating activities, game day PR operations and administrative duties.
In this role, the PR intern will provide key support to the day-to-day operations of creating and telling the story of the Atlanta Dream organization, players and coaches. The person in this role will work with both the team and the front office to help to amplify the stories of our organization, both seeking media placement opportunities and fielding incoming requests.
Responsibilities include:
• Assist the Senior Public Relations Manager with daily PR duties
• Owning press relations tracker and media placement calendar throughout the season, keeping up with the Dream content and media plan to
• Assist in writing and distributing game notes to broadcast teams, local and national media prior to all games
• Manage credential applications system, including approvals and denials, and controlling media entrance for all home games
• Manage game day press row and help facilitate postgame press conference and pregame media availabilities
• Write and edit select press releases
• Assist with season-long coverage planning and weekly media placement tracking.
• Assist with keeping AtlantaDream.com up-to-date, working in the CMS to post stores, photo galleries, videos and other content as needed
• Create and update statistical records for daily distribution to coaches and media
• Accompany players and coaches to media and community appearances
• Other duties as assigned by PR staff or other departments
Qualifications:
• Interest in Public Relations/Communications
• Detail-oriented, organized, and possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and work with strict deadlines
• Available for entire 2023 season – in person for all 20 home games and remotely for all 20 road games
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Strong communication and computer skills
• Great teammate who is able to collaborate with other departments in an effort towards achieving common goals
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide verification of vaccination prior to start date
Position reports to Senior Public Relations Manager.
This position will be paid $15 hourly, up to 40 hours per week.
