Position Purpose
The Director of Human Resources reports to our Team President, stewards our workplace culture and strives to make the Atlanta Dream among the best places to work in sports. Coaches, educates, encourages and leads others in a manner consistent with our core values. Partnering closely with our Team President, acts as the strategic business partner and HR operational leader for our organization. Takes ownership of human resources processes, policies and practices and drives accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Designs and leads the implementation of initiatives that attract and retain top talent with a particular focus on team health and leadership development. Delivers excellent service to our internal team built on a foundation of trust and approachability. Prepares internal employee communications regarding human resources
initiatives. A positive, team-oriented, mature individual who models initiative, service, and accuracy as they play a pivotal role on the team. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, creative organization, where cross-functional collaboration and personal accountability drive success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic HR:
• Proactively strengthens culture via core values-based, inspirational initiatives that span the entire team member life cycle (Recruiting, Interviewing, Onboarding, Development, Performance Feedback, Recognition, and Offboarding).
• Leads human resources function which spans all functional areas including: Strategic HR, Team and Leadership Development, Benefits, and Payroll.
• Assesses skip gaps and sources and executes targeted leadership and technical training to develop needed skills.
• Directs the development and implementation of team member orientation, benefits plans, policies and
guidelines, database management procedures, employee records and documentation policies, and other
human resources elements.
• Strategize with President/Leadership on a range of strategic HR projects.
• Benchmarks and oversees the process of performance reviews, compensation, and promotional decisions.
• Maintain highest level of confidentiality of all financial and personnel information.
• Serve as primary contact with the league office for HR matters, system facilitation and league reporting.
• Maintain and publish an HR calendar to drive awareness.
• Communicate playbook updates to employees upon approval from President or Ownership.
• Prepare a manual of internal processes/checklists related to routine HR matters.
• Maintain up to date employee personnel data, directory, org charts, and job descriptions.
• Employee relations support, including disciplinary measures, corrective action plans, investigations, and conflict resolution. Administers performance review process.
• Maintain a system of keeping track of attendance and leave for employees. Work with managers to ensure
employee compliance with attendance, leave and other employee policies. Manage FMLA request, approval and documentation processes.
• Ensure organizational HR compliance including required notices, postings, policies, filings with DOL/DOR, and managing requests for accommodation under the American with Disabilities Act.
• Administer employee benefits, processing changes as needed throughout the year.
• Assist finance department with semi-monthly payroll processes as necessary.
Business Staff Duties
• Manage non-player hiring process, including offer letters and other communications for new hires, review of resumes, conducting reference and background checks, and helping facilitate employee interviews.
• Full-cycle management of new hire on-boarding for non-player employees.
o Includes managing onboarding administration, scheduling, facilitation, data entry, and benefits enrollment.
Player HR Responsibilities
• Attend first day of training camp, and other days, to facilitate onboarding and administrative processes.
• Create and manage a process for player onboarding, contract execution, enrollment in WNBA benefits
program, and data and document collection.
• Serve as primary liaison with WNBA league office & WNBA Player's Association for player benefit programs.
• Create and maintain player files.
• Create a calendar of key dates for players to drive awareness.
• Serve as a liaison for communicating information to players.
• Secure executed player contracts, marketing agreements, data and documents required by WNBA.
• Assist finance department with processing player payroll and other payments.
• Prepare a manual of internal processes/checklists related to significant player processes.
Required Education
, Experience, Traits and Skills
• Bachelor's degree, SHRM certification preferred
• 5-10 years of Human Resources experience including HR compliance
• Business acumen and track record of effective business judgment
• Strategic planning and problem solving
• Process and detail orientation with proven organizational skills

• Exceptional interpersonal skills and approachability

Work Schedule
This is a full-time position. Possible hybrid work arrangement.
