We are the second largest radio broadcaster in the United States, with over 240 terrestrial radio stations spanning across 48 cities, delivering audio to tens of millions of people a day, without exaggeration. This also includes our Audacy.com streaming platform, and 2500 owned and operated podcasts in addition to our on-demand content.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Audio Streaming Operations Engineer to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing the delivery of high-quality audio streaming services while keeping a birds-eye view of the company’s technical operations. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, stability, and performance of our streaming infrastructure, working closely with engineering, content, and support teams to address and resolve any issues and provide technical support when necessary.
Shifts Available:
Shift 2: 4pm est- 12am est.
Core Responsibilities:
Monitor and Manage Streaming Systems:
Oversee the end-to-end operation of audio streaming services, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Troubleshooting and Incident Response:
Quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to streaming infrastructure, networks, and delivery platforms.
Optimize Streaming Quality:
Implement measures to improve audio quality, latency, and overall user experience through regular performance analysis and adjustment.
Proactive Monitoring:
Actively monitor on-air automation systems, broadcast radio stations, streaming equipment, and critical elements of Audacy’s technical infrastructure, seeking out issues and identifying potential problems before they impact consumer experience.
Technical Support:
Provide direct technical support to local market engineers, board operators, network operations, digital content providers & managers, streaming distribution teams, and affiliate content streaming providers such as Major League Baseball, college sports, and FOX News.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
Work closely with engineering, content, and product teams to deploy new streaming technologies, updates, and enhancements.
Automation and Monitoring:
Develop and manage automated monitoring tools to proactively detect and address potential service interruptions.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed logs and documentation of incidents, solutions, and changes to the streaming environment, and prepare reports for performance analysis and management review.
Development Support:
Assist in the development and organization of NOC programs, contributing to the configuration and performance tuning of production infrastructure.
Compliance and Best Practices:
Ensure streaming services comply with industry standards and best practices for audio quality and security.
Broadcast Workflow Management:
Understand current system capabilities and limitations, actively contributing to configuration and tuning for optimized performa.
Qualifications
Required & Preferred:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with various teams and stakeholders.
• Availability for On-Call shift-based work, including weekends and holidays.
• Passion for learning and the ability to quickly absorb new information.
• Strong time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Streaming Protocols (e.g., HLS, RTMP, AAC, MP3).
• Understanding of broadcast workflow, including audio and video systems, networking, and bandwidth management.
• 2 years of hands-on experience working in a production/on-air environment, handling audio consoles, automation systems like WideOrbit, and audio routing/control interfaces such as SAS or Axia.
• Networking skills, with a working understanding of how network traffic flows. Knowledge of Audio Over IP is a plus.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Zabbix, or similar.
• Proficiency in Python for automation and scripting.
• Familiarity with Confluence and Jira for documentation and project management.
• Experience with Zendesk ticketing systems for incident management and customer support.
• Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and CDN management for optimizing content delivery.
• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
