Manager, Business Operations – Big Ten Network
Job Description:
Big Ten Network is looking for a Manager of Business Operations to support various departments such as production, sales, marketing, programming, and engineering. The position is based in Chicago, IL and will involve event planning, ticket management, office services, and other operational support.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and execute company events such as all-staff meetings, holiday parties, and employee appreciation events.
• Organize sales and sponsorship hospitality events at B1G Conference tentpole events (e.g., B1G Football Championship, B1G Basketball Tournaments).
• Play a key role in the planning of corporate events, including the BTN Big 10K and BTN Experience.
• Manage BTN's ticket allotment for Big Ten football and basketball games, overseeing distribution to internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee in-office meals and production meals during football season.
• Negotiate hotel contracts for B1G Conference events and other major events (e.g., NCAA Final Four).
• Manage inventory for company apparel and premium items (swag).
• Supervise day-to-day office services such as supply management, shipping, mail distribution, ID badges, and parking.
• Serve as the main contact for building management, security, and catering teams.
• Organize BTN studio tours for VIPs, teams, and visiting executives.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on onboarding, employee programs, and safety planning.
• Coordinate with FOX Sports business operations on company-wide initiatives.
• Supervise the Coordinator of Business Operations and the Receptionist.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in event management, business operations, or office administration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple large-scale projects.
• Effective communication skills for working with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced office environment.
• Team player with a “no job is too small” attitude.
• Customer service mindset.
• Basic understanding of college sports.
Preferred (not required):
• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree.
• Experience working in sports and/or media entities.
• Familiarity with the Big Ten Conference.
