Billboard is hiring a Senior Writer based in Los Angeles to lead breaking music news coverage on the West Coast, focusing on lawsuits, legal battles, and other major events in the music celebrity world. As the ultimate global music destination, Billboard offers unrivaled reporting on music news, issues, trends, and the industry's definitive charts.
Responsibilities:
• Cover cases, hearings, and trials involving music celebrities
• Break news on major events in the music world and celebrity musicians
• Interview top artists for written pieces, video, and social media
• Write multiple news stories daily
• Use online legal research tools to track, report, and analyze developments in music cases, explaining why they matter
• Contribute to editorial projects, including power lists, cover stories, and special issues
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience reporting on tight deadlines
• Familiarity with and passion for the music industry
• Excellent communication and well-sourced reporting skills
• Comfortable on camera and interested in multimedia reporting
• Ability to break down complex legal matters for a broad audience
