BRIC is the public access television organization for Brooklyn. Its community media programs offer residents free access to media production facilities and equipment, and low-cost media education. BRIC's community media programming also includes programming initiatives aired on the multi-channel Brooklyn Public Network: community-produced Brooklyn Free Speech TV, BRIC-produced Brooklyn-focused Brooklyn Independent Television, Brooklyn Bulletin Board, and various alternative distribution channels.
Purpose of Position: The Master Control operator monitors playout of content on BRIC's multi-channel cable television and streaming distribution network.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Monitor and assure play-out, recording, and quality of service across multiple linear channels and distribution mediums.
• Execute operations in Master Control as directed by supervisor including primary, backup, and recovery procedures as required.
• Manage schedules, assets, and file workflows within the facility automation system.
• Maintain appropriate communications with distribution partners, internal support staff, and internal content management staff
• Coordinate as needed local live and remote production operations.
• Support where possible community producer studio operations.
Education, Experience, Skills
• Demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS including GUI navigation, browser and application configuration, file system management, and MS Office applications.
• 1 year in a video master control environment with a broadcast or cable system program automation system.
• Demonstrable knowledge of television studio operations and production processes.
• Demonstrable knowledge of standard HD test equipment for video and audio signal analysis
• Ability to work under pressure with demonstrable problem-solving skills.
• High school diploma
Compensation & Schedule
This is a Monday-Friday evening position, 5 pm - 1 am. Occasional weekend work may be required. This is a NABET union position with starting salary $33,976.
