Overview and Responsibilities:
CBS News is seeking an Associate Producer with a strong commitment to journalism to coordinate news production and newsgathering operations on its new Super Desk! This position helps manage the network's response to breaking news and responds to video and editorial requests from CBS broadcasts, owned stations, affiliates and clients. Excellent people/customer service skills are required. The Associate Producer is also responsible for clipping and publishing Newspath video and scripts and assisting in the transmission and distribution of live video, edited video and correspondent packages.
The candidate must have experience in working with sources to confirm and verify facts and video elements, especially during breaking news.
Candidate must be familiar with all major social media platforms and vehicles for engaging audiences on a digital level. This includes - but is not limited to - Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube. Part of this position’s editorial responsibilities is to be able to spot viral and pre-trending content and turn it around for our brand. You must be proficient in the feel and best practices for social-friendly videos (including rights & clearances).
The position includes overnight and weekend responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications:
• Requires highly developed relationship building skills.
• Requires strong editorial judgement & excellent writing skills.
• Strong editing skills a must.
• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a dynamic, quickly-changing environment is essential.
• A focus on multi-media content is required.
Additional Qualifications:
• At least 3 years local and/or network TV news experience or show producer experience preferred.
• Avid preferable.
• Understanding TV newsgathering and transmission technology.
• Knowledge of regional television markets and station relationships a plus.
• Degree in broadcast journalism or related field preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $62,400.00 - 72,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement
Salary/Benefits
$62,400.00 - 72,000.00 per year
