WJZ- TV in Baltimore is seeking a full-time Assignment Desk Editor. The Assignment Editor will assist Reporters and Producers on daily news content. This individual will also assist in coordinating talent appearances under the supervision of the Assistant News Director. Establish and maintain contacts and sources for news coverage. Our candidate will also post content on digital platforms.
Requirements:
• Two years newsroom experience.
• Candidates must be aggressive and proficient in managing crews, breaking news and daily news content.
• Must be able to effectively develop issue-oriented enterprise stories with a good range on content.
• Must be able clearly understand and relate the details and elements needed in daily news coverage.
• Must read and follow local and national daily news coverage and show proficiency in internet/social media research.
• Must possess clear understanding of digital and social media platforms.
• Must understand current technology including microwave & satellite vans, and Dejero/LiveU. Experience Zoom and Skype preferred.
• A proven history of conducing pre-interviews and interviews as needed.
• Familiar with iNews; personal PC; 2-way radio; edit equipment.
Education:
College Degree Preferred
