Overview and Responsibilities:
CBS News Colorado is looking for a Web Producer to support our Covering Colorado First strategic vision on cbscolorado.com and Colorado’s exclusive 24-hour live, local streaming channel. Strong candidates will implement daily stream editorial tasks. The producer will also work with the control room teams managing, optimizing, and timing live and on-demand video content for mobile, desktop, and OTT platforms. The role requires close coordination with the assistant news director, EPs, and managing editor to implement live and taped community journalism coverage.
The producer must have superb news judgment, excellent writing skills, and ability to thrive on the dynamism of a fast-paced newsroom while remaining calm during breaking news. The candidate should be editorially intuitive and curious.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Writing AP-style copy stories for cbscolorado.com.
• Thinking proactively about website and streaming content.
• Demonstrating expertise in timing in a control room environment.
• Coding rundown content at the direction of the show producers regarding video, graphics, scripts, and other elements.
• Anticipating the needs of cbscoloado.com and stream.
Basic Qualifications
• At least 3 years of experience in crafting and building show rundowns in broadcast, or digital environments.
• Strong knowledge of SEO.
• Demonstrated success operating in a fast-paced control room.
• Ability to work under extremely tight deadlines to write headlines and edit videos for live digital broadcasts.
• Detailed knowledge of social media and the competitive digital news environment.
• Available for early mornings, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as this is a 24-hour business.
Additional Qualifications
• Experience with Prism, Crispin, and iNews is a plus.
• Social media experience is helpful.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $60,000.00 - 64,260.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
