CBS Stations is looking for a digital producer to build and optimize content for digital platforms in Los Angeles! This role is responsible for writing and editing stories across a wide range of topics, reacting to breaking news across platforms, clipping, and optimizing video on CBSNews.com and on YouTube, and completing growth initiatives across platforms.We are looking for someone with strong news judgment who can write and edit clear, accurate, factual copy and craft compelling headlines on deadline in a fast-paced environment. Scrupulous attention to detail, a cool head under pressure, and excellent communication skills are essential.
This role works Saturday through Wednesday, 6:30am to 2:30pm. You may be required to work holidays or shift your schedule as news breaks. This position would be onsite located in the Los Angeles office.
Your day-to-day:
• Coordinate, produce and update web coverage of news segments, gathering the latest information from a variety of sources, always being mindful of CBS Stations standards.
• React quickly to breaking news, writing and publishing articles and running live blogs.
• Clip and optimize videos for CBSNews.com, YouTube and other platforms, writing compelling, SEO-friendly headlines and descriptions.
• Manage homepages to present the best of the journalism we produce.
• Work with reporters and producers to publish the best of CBS News and Stations to our website.
• Proactively plan content around key news events and tentpoles.
• Track content performance and share content insights to help inform story selection across platforms.
• Send push alerts on breaking news, weather and other high interest stories.
What you bring to the team:
• You have 2 years of experience in a digital breaking news environment and a proven ability to react quickly as news develops.
• You are a skilled writer who can produce quality copy on deadline.
• You have experience executing on SEO strategies.
• You have an ability to frame content in an engaging way for a digital audience.
• You're deeply familiar with analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Omniture, Chartbeat and Parse.ly
• You thrive in a collaborative team environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $75,000 - 80,000.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary/Benefits
$75,000.00 - 80,000.00 per year
