Position: Executive Producer, Impacting Communities
Location: Detroit, MI
CBS Detroit (WWJ) and Detroit50 (WKBD) are seeking an Executive Producer to lead Impacting Communities efforts. The EP will guide reporters in building relationships, sourcing original stories at the neighborhood level, and creating compelling, community-focused content across multiple platforms. This role emphasizes using storytelling to inspire action and spark conversations about local issues.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and guide reporters in building relationships and sourcing neighborhood-level stories.
• Create content focused on local issues and neighborhood successes, inspiring community engagement.
• Develop strategic plans with the News Director and VP of Content Development to drive daily community-focused storytelling.
• Partner with the General Manager and Creative Services Director to identify opportunities for station-wide campaigns.
• Ensure content is compelling and impactful across multiple platforms.
• Collaborate with on-air, writing, and producing staff.
• Manage community-based initiatives and build relationships with community leaders.
Required Experience:
• 5+ years of experience as an Executive Producer or Assistant News Director.
• Strong storytelling skills and experience in producing impactful community-based initiatives.
Skills and Attributes:
• Solid news judgment and compelling storytelling ability.
• Experience with original reporting, writing, graphics, and editing.
• Ability to manage community-based campaigns and build relationships with community influencers.
• Strong social media skills.
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
