CBS 2/WLNY-TV/CBSN New York is hiring a Maintenance Technician to manage and maintain electronic and studio systems, troubleshoot server applications, and support broadcast operations for a 24/7 news environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Repair electronic equipment to the component level and coordinate with equipment manufacturers to resolve issues.
• Order necessary parts for repairs and communicate with vendors, station management, and staff.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with broadcast server applications.
• Manage server administration, LAN/VLAN configuration, and software updates.
• Install and test projects, including HD SDI, RF, network data, and fiber optic cables.
• Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to address support issues.
Qualifications:
• Basic Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience as a television broadcast engineer.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations.
- Knowledge of IRDs, video/audio timing systems, media file formats, and Grass Valley Stratus/K2 servers.
- Proficiency with Evertz frame control, ITX, Harmonic encoders, and AVID/iNews systems.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix commands, active directory, and software deployment tools like BigFix or SCCM.
- Ability to read and build AV signal flow diagrams and document projects.
• Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, IT certification, or technical school education.
- Knowledge of Sony studio cameras, robotic pedestals, and production switchers.
- Experience managing multiple tasks in high-pressure environments.
Salary Range:
$50,888.24 - $126,006.40 annually, depending on location, experience, and qualifications.
