60 Minutes is looking for an Editorial Associate to support a Senior Producer with News Standards, editorial issues, and related administrative tasks. This is an opportunity to work for a highly respected news program known for its powerful, in-depth storytelling. The role involves helping review editorial content, so priority will be given to candidates who have experience researching complex topics (e.g., law, the economy) or working on document-heavy investigations.
Core Responsibilities:
• Assist the senior producer in reviewing editorial content for each 60 Minutes segment, as well as online and social media content.
• Create and maintain a tracking document to monitor each segment’s editorial and fact-checking updates as it moves through the screening process.
• Manage the flow of incoming documents, ensuring they are added to the shared database and resolving any system glitches or data gaps.
• Review ongoing Rights & Clearance logs and alert the senior producer to any issues.
• Assist in reviewing internal and external requests for use of 60 Minutes material.
• Stay current on updates and directives from CBS News’ Standards & Practices.
• Perform basic office tasks as needed.
Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 years of journalism experience.
• Solid understanding of news and current events.
• Keen attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Excellent organizational skills and some experience managing documents and data systems.
• Ability to work optimally in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• This role is based in New York, requires in-office presence (no remote work), and does not involve travel.
• Workload can be demanding, especially during the broadcast season, and may require evenings and weekends
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $85,000.00 - 95,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary/Benefits
$85,000.00 - 95,000.00 per year
