Position Overview
Hornets Sports & Entertainment is looking for a college student to serve as an intern for the Hornets Foundation. The Hornets Foundation intern will work directly with the manager of the Charlotte Hornets Foundation to facilitate, promote, maintain and implement fundraisers and events that support the Charlotte Hornets Foundation.
This is a non-paid internship where you will need to able to work 20-40 hours per week. You are required to receive academic credit. Hours will include most arena events, throughout the semester that may occur on evenings and/or weekends and all Hornets home games.
The Summer 2019 program runs from May 29, 2019 to August 9, 2019.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Intern will assist the manager of the Charlotte Hornets Foundation with fundraising activities and events, including the My Hero Gala and CycleBar signature fundraisers, silent auctions, raffles and merchandise sales.
• Intern will serve as the primary contact for the Charlotte Hornets Foundation's My Hero Gala silent auction item procurement process including assisting with letter distribution/communication to potential donors, executing phone calls and face-to-face meetings with local businesses, pick-up and organization of auction items.
• Intern will assist with the execution and planning of 2019-20 season long community and fundraising initiatives focused on education, wellness, hunger and military.
• The applicant will help coordinate the Hornets volunteer program including identifying opportunities for fan and employee engagement.
• Intern will play a role in scheduling for the department's Book Bus program.
