Scoreboard Motion Graphics Designer – Chicago White Sox
The Scoreboard Motion Graphics Designer produces motion graphics for the White Sox, visiting team and sponsors that are displayed onto the ballpark screens and in various team initiatives.
The motion graphics designer position contains elements that are specific to television production, computer integration and graphics design. Each of these are unique in their own way. The flow of the operation is like a television broadcast of a game. Knowledge of television production elements and equipment is essential for this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Senior Scoreboard Motion Graphics/Lead Designer and Director on the creation of White Sox player graphics, motion graphics, introductions, and visiting team player graphics (including updating and uploading visiting team graphics and headshots). Creation & Design for static graphics of both sponsor and White Sox branded materials for scoreboard programming for all videoboard displays.
• Develop and manage LED fascia system content and various video-based White Sox branded features from ideation to approval to implementation.
• Develop and create game prompt animations for the ballpark fascia screens.
• Create and load content for the Xpression display system.
• Organize assets for Day-of-Game staff within Xpression system.
• Create animated content for the ballpark screens including slideshows, replay motion graphic effects and promotions.
• Collaborate with design staff on organizational projects and animated production for Marketing and Sponsorship related projects.
• Design & create ''Specialty Night'' fascia board and large screen motion graphics and animations for events such as Elvis Night, Turn Back the Clock Games and other music and entertainment promotions that are featured throughout a season.
• Continual creation and development of animated media for the game, home stand and future team-related promotions.
• Instruct day-of-game staff (as needed) with the set-up and operation of control room equipment.
• Assist in the production of team-related videos.
• Create graphic and sponsorship vignettes for Spring Training facility video board.
• Assist in production shoots and game-day operations.
Required Software, Computer and Program Proficiencies:
• Adobe Creative Suite
• Photoshop
• After Effects
• Illustrator
• Knowledge of Cinema 4D/3D Studio Max a plus
• Familiarity with Ross Xpression also a big plus
Qualifications / Characteristics Required to Drive Success in the Role
• College Degree with emphasis in motion design.
• 3 years of experience Motion Graphic design, experience in a stadium or arena environment is a plus.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly.
• Ability to multi-task and oversee the development of a wide variety of projects at the same time.
• Must be a creative thinker. Ability to work and thrive in a high stress, time specific environment.
• Ability to collaborate on projects with multiple departments and various contacts.
• Inclusive, team player.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Interest in and understanding of Major League Baseball and Chicago White Sox Baseball history and culture a plus.
• Positive, creative and high-energy individual.
• Must be available to work nights and weekends as dictated by the home baseball 81 game schedule.
• Good working knowledge of control room/broadcast equipment and workflow.
• Support the Creative Team within working environment, fostering creative thinking, brainstorming and problem solving.
