Department: Baseball Operations
Job Title: Pitching Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Pitching
Expectations:
• Adhere to Cincinnati Reds Organization Policies and Procedures

• Act as a role model within and outside the Cincinnati Reds Organization
• Perform duties as workload necessitates
• Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload

• Availability and desire to work throughout the year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Individualized instruction for each Reds pitcher that clearly illustrates the path to contributing to our Major League roster
• Use subjective and objective methods to evaluate each pitcher to identify individual strengths and limitations
• Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with each pitcher to identify what they believe to be their individual strengths and limitations
• Communicate with affiliate coaching staffs (written and verbal) to get their day-to-day perspectives on pitcher's strengths, limitations, and development
• Communicate (written and verbal) with Analytics/Sports Science, Mental Skills/Wellness, S&C, and Medical to identify opportunities and limitations for each pitcher
• Collaborate with the Director of Pitching and pitcher to develop individual goals for each player and to develop processes (in-season and off-season) to help each player achieve their individual goals
• Collaborate with the Pro Scouting department on current Reds' pitchers on their reports on our players
• Collaborate with the Amateur and International Scouting departments on newly drafted/acquired Reds pitchers on their reports on our players
• Use all resources to develop evolving organization-wide standards and practices for all pitchers for improvement of pitching mechanics, fundamentals, and pitch grades (stuff command), with an emphasis on developing competition and recreating game-quality repetitions as often as possible
• Develop and execute existing drill packages to help pitchers develop and reinforce good mechanical habits across all levels
• Develop and reinforce analytical approach packages that help pitchers understand organizational approach to pitching
• Work closely with the Director of Pitching and the Analytics staff to build and maintain a best-in-class data-driven individualized and automated pitch grading system for our affiliate coaches to use
• Collaborate with the Director of Pitching to develop an ideal pre-game and post-game routine
• Collaborate with Mental Skills/Wellness, S&C, and ATCs to draw on other disciplines and ensure that Reds' standards are at the cutting edge of pitching instruction
• Visit all Reds minor league affiliates (contingent on safety), with an emphasis on the following tasks and others as assigned by the Director of Pitching:
• Communicate and reinforce requirements and expectations for pitching-related work to affiliate coaching staffs and pitchers
• Quality control-ensure that drill packages, pre-game routines, throwing programs, and use of technology concepts are being executed to expectations
• Adhere to organizational budget and policies relating to travel and expense reimbursement
• Will likely be expected to spend significant time in Goodyear, Arizona at our complex
• Continued personal growth
• Stay current with developments in pitching instruction in the public domain by reading topical research literature, seeing what the best private facilities/coaches are doing, and evaluating online certification courses
• Develop technical writing, coding, and video skills to reduce the load on our support staff
