Job Title: Game Day Operations Intern
Dept: Reds Hall of Fame and Museum
Reports To: Visitor Services and Retail Manager
FLSA: Seasonal - Hourly, Non-Exempt
Term: March 15, 2025 – September 30, 202
Job Purpose:
Game Day Operations Interns assist in all facets of museum operations to bring the history of Reds baseball to life and provide exemplary service to all guests. They work with Reds home games and assist with Hall of Fame sales and fundraising initiatives inside the museum and in the ballpark. Through hands-on experience and assigned projects, they will learn about the operational aspects of the sports and museum businesses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Set up and tear down home game activations. This includes pre-game, in-game and post-game areas of the ballpark.
• Proactively assist with the promotion and sales of merchandise, fundraising, and ticketing initiatives.
• Interact professionally with staff, supervisors, and the public.
• Assist and direct volunteers.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and Reds personnel to produce desired results.
• Run Point of Sale systems with cash handling and nightly reconciliation, reporting, and closing duties.
• Assist customers in high-pressure situations while maintaining a calm, friendly, and professional demeanor.
• Contribute innovative ideas for new initiatives or projects.
• Carry and transport boxes to fulfill inventory and restock.
• Must be able to lift, carry and transport large boxes and items of at least 25 pounds.
• Ability to work long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, including 65/80 home games.
Education Requirements:
Candidates must be currently pursuing, or have achieved, an undergraduate or graduate degree in Sports Management, Organizational Leadership, Business, Marketing, or a related field. This internship can be used for gaining college credit in applicable courses.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Successful candidates are self-motivated and proactive, capable of collaborating with teammates and adapting to change.
• They should have a strong curiosity about learning the sales, operations, logistics, and organization of a sports business.
• A positive and upbeat demeanor, along with a team-player mentality, is essential.
• Candidates must be open to learning, upgrading their skills, and accepting supervision from staff.
• Additionally, they should be able to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment and take accountability for their work.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Some volunteers.
Work Environment:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to prevalent weather conditions for short periods of time.
• Job duties require the ability to stand for long periods of time.
