This is a Full Time Job
West Hollywood-based production company seeks 4 non-union screenwriters to develop the first season of a sitcom. The series is fully financed and producers are currently pitching the show to talent. All four writers will work together at our office in a typical writer's room set-up. Term of employment is 12-weeks or more, contingent on performance. The show has an edgier comedic tone and is being developed for premium cable channel or streaming platform distribution, think ''Shameless,'' ''Insecure,'' and ''Catastrophe.'' Our story has themes about race and class so we're looking for a diverse writing team, including at least one African American writer.
DUTIES
Use the pitch materials to develop a series bible
Collaborate with Executive Producers to realize their vision
Work as a team to generate ideas
Conceive and write scripts for the 12-episode first season of the show
Accept notes from executives and development staff
Meet deadlines
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors or Masters degree in Film, Television, Screenwriting, or similar creative field
Organized, motivated, and able to work well under pressure
A strong grasp of story, character, and comedy
Los Angeles local, able to commute to the office for 50+ hours per week
Comfortable with shifting priorities
2-3 polished comedy writing samples
