The Assistant role on the breaks team should be able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and analytical writing skills are essential. Applicants should also possess organizational skills and general office and computer skills, including familiarity with Adobe Suite, Microsoft Outlook, Google Suite, Constant Contact, and Cision.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, energetic, resourceful, and have a strong work ethic. They should understand that PR is not a 9-5 job.
The role of the Assistant will be to support the overall teams on titles in domestic and international festivals, theatrical releases, and awards campaigns spanning narrative, documentary, television series, and short films.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Meticulously monitor Google Alerts, social media, trades, and other publications for press pieces on our campaign titles.
• Clip, format, and service press breaks to clients in a fast-paced manner during international festivals, theatrical/digital releases, and awards campaigns.
• Keep track of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly magazine/newspaper print issues year-round.
• Compile and service initial press reactions following festival premiere screenings.
• Regularly communicate with campaign leads for expected press breaks and campaign sensitivities.
• Conduct thorough, out-of-the-box research for campaigns and press targets.
• Draft festival and seasonal slates with collected press materials and credits for all relevant titles.
• Assist junior publicists in maintaining administrative documents including theatrical status reports, critics' grids, screening requests, RSVP documents, wrap reports, and awards calendars.
• Connect press interviews via phone or Zoom, take notes, and report back to campaign leads.
• Check in attendees and provide general assistance at press screenings, press days, and various events; solicit reactions following press screenings.
Requirements:
• A strong knowledge base across independent film genres and interest in film distribution is essential.
• Bachelor's Degree.
• Recent grads welcome.
