This is a Full Time Paid Internship
The ideal candidate is interested in learning about the promotional life cycle of a film-from festival premieres through awards season-and has a passion for contemporary independent cinema, foreign language films, and documentaries. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about PR directly from publicists through weekly breakout meetings and collaboration on publicity projects.
Attention to detail, strong verbal communication, and analytical writing skills are essential. Applicants should be self-starters, energetic, and have a strong work ethic. Candidates must feel confident that are able to familiarize themselves with our clients and titles.
Prior internship experience in the film industry is a plus, but not necessary. This internship will be a hybrid position, both in-person in NYC and remote, with a target start date of September 16, 2024.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assisting the publicity teams with campaign tracking documents, including status reports, RSVP grids, critics grids, and festival wrap reports.
• Helping the Press Breaks team monitor press coverage of our titles in major print and online publications, as well as on social media, and compiling and organizing this coverage for clients.
• Performing thorough, out-of-the-box research for new press contacts and maintaining our internal database in Constant Contact.
• Performing awards voter research and tracking awards campaigns (e.g., AMPAS, NYFCC) for titles.
• Creating press invitations and other graphics files via Adobe Creative Suite as required.
• Optionally attend after-hours press screenings and events to help junior and senior publicists with on-the-ground staffing.
Hours/Wage:
• The Fall 2024 internship term is from September 16 - January 16, for a total of 17 weeks.
• We require a minimum time commitment of two days and a maximum of four days per week, from Monday through Friday, during the hours of 10:00am-6:00pm ET.
• Interns are paid $16/hr., with a mandatory 30-minute lunch break.
• Interns are considered 1099 contractors. They are not W-2 employees and are ineligible for benefits.
