As a Specialist Field Producer, you will work alongside CNN's Chief Global Affairs Correspondent and a photojournalist. You will work from the London bureau under the guidance of the Directors of News and be responsible for delivering award-winning content for all CNN platforms. The Global Affairs brief is intentionally broad to allow your team to cover the biggest news stories in the world. The focus will be on exclusive reporting and distinctive storytelling that sets us apart from our competitors. The role will involve extensive international travel, sometimes at short notice, including to hostile environments. From Russia to the Middle East and South Asia, no story is off limits. This position requires frequent travel to hostile environments.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Manage editorial voice and logistics to ensure stories meet compliance procedures.
• Prioritise vital, urgent, and new stories, while investing time in sensitive and unique content.
• Take risks by chasing leads that may not pay off but could be highly rewarding.
• Handle confidential material and sources, securing sensitive data adeptly.
• Develop ideas, pitch them, and oversee their execution from start to finish, adhering to CNN's editorial standards.
• Adapt content to meet the needs of different platforms and audiences.
• Write broadcast and digital video scripts, as well as news articles, with skill.
• Lead as an executive editor on longer projects or 6-minute TV packages, with a clear understanding of audience and algorithm preferences.
• Communicate clearly and accurately with bureau and desk teams.
• Respond to breaking news by quickly gathering information on varied and challenging stories, whether deployed or from the London bureau.
Qualifications & Experience…
• Proven experience in newsgathering and TV and digital production.
• Field producing or reporting experience for TV and/or digital, prior field experience in hostile environments is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of TV news logistics, technical requirements and digital audiences.
• Organised with an exceptional interest in world news including business news.
• Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritise between tasks under difficult conditions.
• Fluent in a second language - Arabic, Spanish or Russian preferred.
Onsite Working - This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work.
