This is a Full Time Job
Based full-time in Jerusalem and working closely with the Jerusalem correspondent and bureau team, the Field Producer is responsible for initiating, organizing and producing multiplatform coverage of the biggest stories in the region.
You will be responsible for editorial, logistical, legal, and technical elements of CNN's newsgathering requirements, working primarily with the local correspondent and at times other anchors assigned to Israel and the Palestinian territories.
You will handle stories from development through execution; respond to breaking news in the region; and ensure all content is relevant, accurate, timely, of high quality and of interest to audiences on all platforms.
You'll also act as the primary interface between the Jerusalem correspondent and network hubs, teams in the field and the bureau. You'll provide editorial and production support and guidance, under direction from video directors on the newsdesk and the Jerusalem bureau chief.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Pitch, develop and produce news packages, enterprise features and live shots for digital and linear platforms.
• Handle the output of the Jerusalem correspondent and any other correspondents or anchors assigned to Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
• Be the logistical lead on stories responsible for setting up field shoots, interviews, securing permissions and building relationships with sources.
• Deal with unexpected breaking news, responding swiftly to get verified information and video to air or online in a competitive news environment.
• Handle multiple tasks in a breaking news environment, including sending editorial information, securing live interviews, live video transmissions and/or taped coverage of news events for any platform.
• Work with the Senior News Reporter, Jerusalem and other correspondents to write digital and off-platform copy.
• Help oversee field safety for teams on assignment, ensuring that risk assessment procedures are followed.
• Provide guidance and feedback to field correspondents, field producers and technical crews.
• Be aware of company policies and practices, and ensure they are applied on all assignments and adhere to CNN's editorial, legal and standards guidance in all output.
• Provide editorial guidance to the network in collaboration with the news directors and bureau chief.
• Ensure coverage operates within budget.
• Be prepared to be deployed internationally in the region. Travel is required – often at short notice and for varying amounts of time.
• Manage communication between field teams, hubs and platforms in a timely and clear fashion.
• Handle administrative tasks in the bureau, official correspondence, accounting and the securing of visas.
Qualifications & Experience…
• Experience in newsgathering and TV and Digital production
• Field producing or reporting experience for TV and/or Digital
• Knowledge of video news logistics, technical requirements, and security requirements
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise between tasks under difficult conditions
• Prior field experience in hostile environments
• Organized, exceptional interest in world news including business news.
• Proven writing skills
• Fluent in a second language (desirable)
Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager.
