CREATIVE CONTENT TRAINEE
The Columbus Clippers are looking for individuals looking to gain experience in sports photography and videography during the 2025 Columbus Clippers Season (April-September). This position would require work on weekends, holidays, and non-game day events alongside the regular home Clippers schedule. Trainees would not be asked to travel to away games. Potential candidates must be in college and/or recent graduates.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Must be self-motivated and able to time manage
• Work daily schedule as well as before, during, and after all Clippers games
• Assist in the design and creation of content for social media
• Collaborate with the Director of Social Media and other team members to develop and execute creative ideas and different concepts for various platforms
• Ensure all content work is on brand and consistent with the team's overall work/feel
• Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Attend any non-baseball events at Huntington Field and in the community
• Be able to maintain confidential information
• Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• Minimum two years in college
• General knowledge of baseball
• Knowledge of photography and photo editing
• Knowledge of videography and video editing
• Can provide a portfolio showcasing previous work of creative projects
• Extensive knowledge of and experience with social media platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok, X, and Facebook
• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
• Strong organizational and time management skills
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Internship hours will be discussed and agreed upon prior to each home stand. If you have been scheduled for a game, be sure to communicate any changes, especially if you will be late or not here at all when expected.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Job may require employees to function in a high activity and heavily crowded outdoor professional sports venue/environment. Employees may also be exposed to weather of varying degrees for extended periods of time while performing the duties of this job.
GENERAL INTERN POLICIES
• Please wear a credential badge when on the premises.
• Asking for autographs is strictly prohibited.
• Fraternizing with players is strictly prohibited.
• Due to MLB policies, access to the clubhouse can only take place with prior approval. Access during a game is strictly prohibited.
• Please limit cell phone use while working.
DAY OF CLIPPERS GAME:
• PARKING will be given credential to place on dash for parking
• When arriving at ballpark report to Andrea Diaz
• Review the rosters and lineup sheets
• Identify newly arrived players, Major League rehab players, or otherwise notable players for both teams
• Review RH/LH batters and pitchers and plan where to shoot from
• Determine any special events taking place before, during or after game
• Coordinate plans with other photographers on site
EQUIPMENT
• Ability to Provide Own Equipment: Interns should ideally have access to their own camera gear, though the club can provide limited equipment if necessary
MORE GAME DAY BASICS
• Ready photographer gear upon arrival
• Specify where images are to be sent or uploaded
• Determine any deadlines needed to be met
• Proceed to field level early for National Anthem and pre-game ceremonies
• Photograph any ceremonial first pitches
• Photograph all pitchers; coaches; all position players
• Photograph any significant game action/activity all the way through the game. Look for celebrations, high fives, etc.
• Photograph mascot activity; other ballpark traditions including Hot Dog Race
• Document the ''Fan Experience'' and basic B-roll
• Photograph any post-game activities including fireworks or the Fun Run
• Communicate any challenges, suggestions to Clippers staff
• When at the ballpark, help represent the team by being a good steward for the Clippers brand and organization, always acting in a professional manner
ADDITIONAL NOTES
The Clippers Creative Content trainee can work with the Clippers staff to suggest daily or weekly projects, or a broader project stretching over the entire season. Sometimes may be asked to come in early on game day to photograph player entries, batting practice, and/or warmups for social media purposes. Interns may be asked to attend staff meetings on non game days to discuss upcoming projects. This position is eligible for college internship credit and will get paid an hourly wage.
