We are seeking an experienced and motivated independent contractor to join our team as a Talent Scout & Development Director for the West Coast region. This role will focus on identifying, recruiting, and developing a strong roster of new talent, including kids, teens, women, and men, while also building a specialized development board for potential future stars. As this is a commission-based role, your income will be directly tied to the success of your talent recruitment efforts and their bookings.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has excellent networking skills, a keen eye for talent, and is passionate about shaping the next generation of models and actors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Talent Scouting & Recruitment
• Identify and recruit high-potential talent (kids, teens, women, men) through various channels, including:
*Social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
*Audition via Zoom, agency provided new talent submissions.
*Local performing arts schools, theatre groups, community events or clubs.
*Online talent databases and casting platforms
*Networking with photographers, casting directors, and industry professionals
• Actively promote talent agency's mission and services to potential talent and their families
• Attend industry-related events, such as showcases or open calls, to scout for talent
2. Development Board Building
• Build a development board with talent who show promise but may need additional training and portfolio development.
• Collaborate with talent and their families to outline steps for professional growth (e.g. training, photo shoots, and portfolio building)
• Track progress of development talent and prepare them to transition to active boards when ready.
3. Talent Evaluation
• Conduct talent assessments to ensure potential candidates meet agency standards for modeling and acting opportunities
• Review headshots, portfolios, and/or audition tapes to evaluate suitability for industry needs.
• Provide feedback and guidance to talent on improving their marketability
4. Building & Managing Talent Boards
• Organzie and maintain boards for:
*Kids: ages 4-12
*Teens: ages 13-17
*Women & Men: 18+ models and actors
*Development Board: Talent who require training or portfolio-building.
• Ensure each board reflects a diverse range of talent that aligns with industry trends and client needs.
• Collaborate with the agency team to submit talent for auditions, bookings, and campaigns. (job role may evolve more in this area as candidate develops strong talent boards.)
5. Relationship Management
• Build strong relationships with potential talent, families, and guardians (for underage talent).
• Act as a liason between talent and the agency to provide consistent updates and support.
• Foster trust and maintain professionalism to represent the agency's brand positively.
6. Administrative & Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of all scouted talent, including contact information, photos, and evaluation notes.
• Provide regular updates to the agency about new recruits, talent progress, and board development.
Qualifications
• Proven experience in talent scouting, development, or related role in the modeling/acting or performance (dance, performing arts, theatre,etc) industry
• Strong understanding of industry trends, casting process, and market needs recommended.
• Excellent networking, communication, and interpersonal skills. Entrepreneur ownership of coveted role as an expansion of our agency.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a remote capacity.
• Access to reliable technology and tools for online scouting (e.g., social media, Zoom, casting platforms).
• Passion for discovering and developing new talent.
Compensation
This is a commission-based role with earning potential tied directly to the success of recruited talent. Specific details about commission percentages and payment terms will be discussed during interview process.
Performance Expectations
• Regularly meet or exceed monthly recruitment targets for all boards.
• Successfully onboard talent with strong potential for bookings and long-term development.
• Maintain professionalism and integrity, upholding the reputation of our agency.
Salary/Benefits
This is a commission-based role with earning potential tied directly to the success of recruited talent. Specific details about commission percentages and payment terms will be discussed during interview process. Independent Contractor position.
