Intellectual Property Paralegal / Legal Assistant
Responsibilities include:
• Assisting an attorney who handles Intellectual Property/Trademark, Transactional and Entertainment cases.
• Maintain/file documents both in physical (paper) and electronic file forms
• Format and edit Excel charts, input and update data
• Assist attorney with, compiling/ preparing documents for USPTO filings including: memos, research, search database, compile evidence, assist in preparing filings, etc.
• Prepare correspondence and draft agreements under the direction of attorney
• Research projects
• Maintain attorney calendar by planning and scheduling meetings and telephone calls
• Maintain docket calendar and prepare reports with deadlines and due dates for client filings
• Communicate and obtain information from clients, other attorneys/staff or professional organizations
• Follow-up on delegated assignments
• Document and input billable time and reimbursable expenses (PC Law)
Qualifications must include:
• Attention to detail
• Highly organized with time management skills and understanding of balancing needs of a fast-paced work environment
• Team player
• Good listening skills and ability to focus on attorney directions
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to prioritize tasks, follow though and finish tasks on a timely basis
• Previous Intellectual Property experience required including USPTO filings, international filings, knowing current procedures and requirements, ability to conduct clearance searches and management of the docket/calendar and deadlines
• Experience with ALT LEGAL software is a plus
• Ability to adapt to attorney's needs and adjust to feedback
• Excellent writing and grammar skills
• College / advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
