Title: QC Operator (Part Time)
Location: in person (Universal City facility) (not remote)
Shift: swing, weekends or grave preferred; day shift occasionally available
Job Description:
The QC Operator is responsible for evaluating digital masters, audio files and ancillary elements prior to delivery. QC jobs scheduled can range from complete (100%) technical or master QCs to spot checks depending on job requirements. The QC Operator must have a keen eye and ear for catching issues during real time watch downs. The QC Operator will complete company QC report forms when evaluating, detailing issues found as well as measuring video, audio and technical specifications to ensure they conform with client, in house and SMPTE standards.
The QC Operator should possess the following skill sets and experience:
• At least 3 years of major studio, network or post production facility quality control experience evaluating elements and creating accompanying documentation or written reports.
• Knowledge of industry QC standards and practices including use of video and audio scopes, signal measurements and SMPTE specs required. Familiarity with any industry standard QC software (like Aurora or Baton) for technical and master QC evaluations a plus.
• Familiarity with the encoding, transcoding and exporting process that creates QC deliverables. Knowledge of from various non-linear edit (NLE) including Avid, Resolve and/or Premiere preferred.
• Clear, concise and professional writing and communication skills via QC report creation and email communication with our Operations/Scheduling team.
• Ability to identify and document range of video and audio problems that inherently arise in production and post production environments.
• Ability to independently set up QC room, monitors, audio board and file playback from server using a routing system or patch panel in a professional post environment a plus.
• Ability to read and understand network specifications in order to ensure master files conform to and pass network standards.
• Operating under pressure and tight deadlines to uphold high standards of quality while maintaining company processes and procedures.
