Purpose:
The Art Director is responsible for actively creating and sourcing imagery that fulfills and enhances the Commercial content strategy through art directing contributors in the production of imagery for the collection.
Responsibilities:
• Conceptualize and develop, in collaboration with photographers, shoots with strong creative and commercial potential that contribute to the development of the premium image and video collections for both royalty free and rights managed content categories.
• Work directly with the Executive Producer in creating a local shoot program that contributes to the Creative Commercial Content Strategy.
• Develop relations with photographers and video contributors. Collaborate with them to develop creative shoots, inform them of the content strategy, and negotiate and navigate the basis of the production budgets for their shoots.
• Direct photo and video shoots for rights-managed and royalty-free commercial content, with a prominent focus on developing and defining premium commercial content.
• Participate in the editing of all local shoots and submissions.
• Contribute to the recruitment of premium commercial photographer talent and in the creation of shoot team members (stylists, hair and make-up artists, casting agents and production companies) that are additive to the development of the commercial collection.
• Represent Corbis with respect to commercial photography and video at appropriate advertising and industry- related functions such as advertising agency creative meetings, photographer seminars, and industry trade events within the US.
• Assist in new content presentations, electronic and printed, for use in internal and external client/sales education.
Conctacts:
This position will report to the Executive Producer, and will work closely with other departments as needed. Close working relationships with Production, Sales and Marketing departments will be required.
Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 years active art direction experience in either the photography or advertising/graphic design community is required. Also required is a working knowledge of commercial photography, and digital production and distribution methods. A strong understanding of visual trends and commercial image usage for the global marketplace is a must. Some film and video production and post- production experience is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, communication and leaderships skills are a necessity. Candidate must be well organized and a self-starter. Ability to provide guidance, support, vision and motivation in a diverse, multinational organization is required. Position demands a team attitude and the ability to work in a rapidly changing, complex and demanding environment. Working knowledge of MS Office and Adobe Photoshop applications is required. Some travel may be required.
