Cutting Edge Group is the expert in music for media (film, television, games, advertising, Broadway) across its publishing, marketing, label, and music services verticals. CEG owns and controls the music IP in some of most popular media properties and franchises in the world.
Cutting Edge operates as a financier, publisher, record label and has provided a range of music services to over 1000 feature films, tv shows, musical theatre productions and games, including such films and television shows as: The King's Speech, Drive, Fury, John Wick, Sicario, Whiplash, Hacksaw Ridge, and The Walking Dead.
We are currently seeking to fill the entry level role of Royalties Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for helping with all aspects of catalog setup, royalty collection, and statement processing for both master recordings and publishing copyrights. The right candidate for this job should be comfortable working with large amounts of data in excel and various databases and should be adept at problem solving. Strong mathematical abilities and advanced excel skills are required for this position and will be tested during the interview process. Prior music industry experience at a publishing company or record label is preferred, however candidates with strong math and excel skills and no prior experience will also be considered.
Please note that this is not a marketing/pitching/social media/creative type of position.
Job Functions Include:
• Help set up songs/masters/products in Music Maestro and Record Maestro
• Input royalty statements and sales files into Music Maestro and Record Maestro
• Help with the preparation, review and delivery of bi-annual and quarterly royalty statements to all clients
• Creation of ad-hoc reports and manual royalty statements as necessary
• Analysis of statements received from 3rd party sources
• Assist with daily royalty inquiries in a timely manner
• Liaise with our publishing administrator to resolve registration/reporting errors
• Assist with quarter-end tasks
• Analyze and consult artist and composer contracts for royalty obligations due
• Perform other related duties and special projects as needed
Skills/Abilities:
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required (including vlookups, sumif, and pivot tables)
• Familiarity with Access, Filemaker, SQL Server, or another database program preferred
• Bonus points if you are familiar with a coding language like VBA or SQL
• Highly numerate
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Self-motivated; must be able to prioritize work
• Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure in fast paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Committed to providing quality customer service to clients
Applicants will be considered for both the Royalties Assistant and Royalties Analyst positions. Salary ranges are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to abilities and prior experience. The expected salary ranges for each position are:
Royalties Assistant: $40,000-$50,000 per year
Royalties Analyst: $50,000-$60,000 per year
