Lead Audio Editor (Swing Shift)
Position Summary
We are seeking a talented Lead Audio Editor to join our in-house Localization team. We are looking for an experienced editor who has worked across various projects and platforms. In this role, you will collaborate with Audio Management and Scheduling to ensure the capacity and quality requirements of the team. A successful candidate must be able to follow creative direction and have a critical eye for quality and detail.
This is an onsite role, located in Burbank, CA. Shift will be Monday to Friday from 4:00PM to 12:30AM.
Primary Responsibilities
• Serve as a mentor and liaison for Audio Editors and Junior Editors' career development.
• Provide training, support, and guidance to the editors. This is provided through in-person training, documentation review, and feedback.
• Evaluate editors' day to day work performance, provide feedback, and escalate to Manager, Audio Operations, as necessary.
• Edit & QC Original or Foreign content, including stems, final composite mixes, and fully filled M&E in 5.1, 7.1, Dolby ATMOS, and other immersive formats.
• Mix Original or localized content such as dubbed features, trailers & Audio Description mixes.
• Interpret and apply client technical specifications, including but not limited to delivery formatting, audio limiting and level specifications (CALM Act, EBU-R128, DX LKFS etc.)
• Understand technical terms and complex audio situations and render them comprehensible to external and internal clients with limited audio knowledge.
• Work within pre-estimated budgets and timelines.
• Work closely with the Manager of Audio Operations and other leads to suggest workflow and/or SOP changes and/or improvements.
• Update SOP documentation.
• Evaluate and address internal & external client rejections.
• Work closely with management & the engineering department to ensure that equipment is properly maintained and upgraded, as necessary.
• Utilize Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel, to create audio QC logs and/or metadata sheets.
• Work overtime as necessary to meet deadlines, complete projects, and/or address issues and concerns.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, experience, and skill set:
• B.S. degree in computer science or programming, electronics, or A/V technology related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in audio and/or video post-production environment.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in supervising a team of direct reports.
• 2-5 years of experience in Localization, preferred.
• Individual must possess a fundamental understanding of digital audio and digital video signals, standards, machines and wiring.
• Individual must know basic operation and troubleshooting for Macs.
• Experience with Digital Audio Workstations, Mac required.
• Knowledge in audio file types, frame rates, and transcodes.
• Position requires a high level of ingenuity (using the different tools at the operator's disposal) in order to achieve the highest quality audio results. Many procedures are defined and in use currently, but the quality of the finished product is very objective.
• All work is schedule and customer satisfaction driven, so reliability and timeliness are very critical.
• Must possess a high level of written, verbal, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Must be able to make decisions independently.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively and contribute to the team environment.
• Must have demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize and be extremely detail oriented.
• Strong organizational and computer skills are required.
• Individual will work in a fast-paced, small team environment. Individual will be dealing directly with other technical, creative and operations employees on a regular basis.
• Individual must also be able to work independently within their own process.
• Able to follow instructions and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced production environment.
• Must be willing to work during day, night, or weekend shift with varying start times.
• Must be willing to work overtime when necessary to meet client deadlines/SLA's.

This role is based in Los Angeles, California and the base pay range for this role is $38.89 - $43.27 per hour. Actual amounts will vary depending on education, skills, experience, and geographic location.
