Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) Subscriber & Engagement Finance is a highly visible team of professionals with backgrounds in consulting, investment banking, private equity, media & entertainment, and technology who serve as in-house advisers to the Disney Streaming Services' executive leadership and own the subscriber & engagement growth planning and reporting. The team's activities and accomplishments have contributed to the rapid growth and success of the Disney Streaming Services.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst that will play a key role in growing our direct-to-consumer business, focused on Disney+. They will help identify some of the business' key issues by providing subscriber transparency and help provide solutions by partnering with cross-functional teams to evaluate strategic initiatives. This is inclusive of but not limited to: modeling the impacts of branded content on subscriber growth, developing, and tracking KPI's to drive execution and operational improvement, preparing valuation analyses on future content releases, and more. They will also be responsible for collaborating closely with stakeholders from content planning, data analytics, strategy, research and operational marketing and scheduling teams.
The right person for this role has phenomenal analytical skills, experience in working with large data sets and building complex financial models, sets a high bar for him/herself, and must display initiative in anticipating and exceeding the business demands of the key stakeholders. This role will be data-focused, responsible for sharing business insights, providing strategic recommendations, and influencing key operational decisions. The pace and cadence for change at DSS necessitates an ability to manage multiple projects, collaborate with multiple stakeholders, and roll up sleeves to support this important segment of the Disney business.
Responsibilities:
• Create forecast models for Disney+ branded content releases and the subsequent impacts on subscriber acquisition and retention
• Partner with content teams and regional partners throughout Disney to optimize timing of content releases
• Establish global and local content performance reporting and analysis framework to support the optimization of content strategy
• Maintain a strong understanding of operating performance (e.g., KPIs, subscribers), major deals and transactions, issues and challenges facing the businesses, and relevant trends in the streaming business
• Develop impactful, compelling presentation materials (decks, notes, write-ups, backup materials, etc.) that effectively communicates subscriber projections, drivers, business performance, and risks & opportunities to leadership
Basic Qualifications:
• 2+ years of strategy or finance experience and proven track record with a top tier tech or media & entertainment firm, management consultancy or investment bank / private equity firm
• Strong analytical capabilities and financial modeling skills (MS Excel), including the ability to build models from scratch
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including PowerPoint) and ability to simplify complex matters for an executive audience
• Ability to work well in teams, both within the group and with other business units
• Familiarity with working in or with global, large organizations is a plus
Required Education:
• Bachelor's degree from a top-tier school with a major in Finance, Economics, or similar discipline with an analytical bias
Preferred Education:
• MBA (or equivalent experience) is a plus
The hiring range for this position in NY is $104,200.00-$143,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
