Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.
Job Summary:
Join our dynamic team at ESPN as a Software Engineer II, where you will contribute to developing mobile applications within the Apple ecosystem using Objective-C and Swift. In this hands-on role, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, Mobile/Web/Backend Engineers, and Content Creators to help conceptualize and deliver world-class Disney and ESPN apps.

Role Location: This is a Hybrid role requiring 4 days onsite (Monday-Thursday) in one of the following office locations:

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
• Software Development: Assist in designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features.
• Learning and Growth: Gain experience in managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Reusable Solutions: Contribute to creating reusable solutions that are shared across all Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology apps.
Required Experience/Skills/Training:
• 3+ years of hands-on professional development experience with the Apple ecosystem.
Preferred Experience/Skills/Training:
• Solid understanding of OO design patterns and concepts.
• Solid understanding of HTTP and REST-style web services.
• Solid understanding of unit test frameworks and continuous integration systems.
• Demonstrated understanding of software architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to design and build dynamic multi-threaded mobile apps.
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team as well as the ability to work independently.
• Works well with moderate technical supervision and supplemental engineering support.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can effectively articulate complex ideas and influence others through well-reasoned explanations.
Experience with:
• iOS/tvOS app development lifecycle including App Store compliance policies and submissions requirements.
• Working on a significant consumer app that is currently available in the marketplace.
• Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code whether implementing architectural improvements, user-facing features, or fixing defects.
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues, problems, and errors encountered across various platforms.
• Analyzing and optimizing application code for efficiency, reliability and performance.
• Managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Working on highly collaborative teams that reward quality code and effective communication.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $114,900 to $154,100 per year, is $120,300 to $161,300 per year in Seattle, WA is $125,800 to $168,700 per year in San Francisco, CA and is $120,300 to $161,300 per year in New York City, NY. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
