About the Role & Team
ESPN Communications is seeking a Communications Content Coordinator who will work in an editor/producer role that involves social media management, copy editing, data analytics and graphic design/visual storytelling skills. Every single day you'll be challenged to blend creativity, sports media knowledge and journalistic instincts to produce industry-leading social content that promotes ESPN's content across multiple public relations platforms!
This role will work closely with the department's publicists as they prepare daily announcements. The ideal candidate will be able to thrive in a team environment where collaboration, innovation and curiosity are core to this role and every day is game day. This candidate will report to the Communications Content Manager.
What You Will Do
• Perform a wide variety of tasks to assist in ideating, producing and publishing social content across ESPN PR platforms (X, Instagram, Threads and Facebook)
• Publish content that promotes a range of initiatives including commentator announcements, new content agreements, milestones, viewership and more
• Establish and maintain, alongside the Communications Content Manager, a strategic and highly visual approach to daily and long-term announcement management
• Support colleagues daily in producing compelling social copy and optimizing social content per platform
• Ensure all produced content aligns with implemented best practices; high-quality visual impact at the forefront
• Generate new ideas for developing creative content across platforms and building account engagement and growth
• Use social data to inform content decisions
• Follow ESPN PR social standards of practice including an adherence to journalistic style guidelines
• Sports happen on nights and weekends and those shifts will be required in this position
• May support Communications colleagues with additional duties as needed such as press release design and website management
Required Qualifications and Skills
• 1+ years experience in social media, communications, journalism, public relations or marketing
• Proven experience in social media management
• Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms, analytics tools and emerging trends in digital media
• Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong graphic design experience with production of high-quality visuals a plus
• Sound knowledge of the sports media landscape, including familiarity of current ESPN commentators, events and programming
• Appreciation for and a solid understanding of business-centric social media, press releases and blogs and the role these channels play in the Communications/PR space
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing and working on multiple projects across properties at once with meticulous attention to detail
• Organized and efficient with a proven ability to meet deadlines, think strategically and solve problems
• A rockstar with no ego. You give credit to others where credit is due and take responsibility for misses when they rest with you
Preferred Qualifications
• 1+ years of experience using photo editing software (e.g. Canva, Photoshop)
• 1+ years of experience using video editing software (e.g. Final Cut, Premiere)
• Communications/PR experience a plus
Required Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Journalism, Communications, Multimedia or related field
