Position Overview:
ESPN is seeking a Social Media Specialist II who will work in a hybrid editor/producer role that involves creative ideation, news judgment, copyediting, Photoshop, and video editing skills. The ideal candidate loves sports, thrives in a team environment, and has a desire for learning. This role focuses on creating and distributing content related to women's sports to drive audience growth and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shape, create, and distribute social content for sports fans across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat.
- Ideate, create, and post content for various women's sports, including basketball, soccer, gymnastics, softball, volleyball, tennis, and track and field, to grow and engage audiences.
- Explore user-generated content opportunities to tap into new trends and reach new audiences.
- Generate new ideas for building engagement and growth across all platforms, with an emphasis on the espnW brand.
- Support senior colleagues in leading priority events and planning for milestones, including research, brainstorming, and collaborating with the social creative team.
- Use social data to inform daily content decisions.
- Follow ESPN Social standards, including adherence to news and reporting guidelines.
- Embrace working in the live window, reacting to and creating content in real-time, with regular night and weekend shifts.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in social media or a related field.
- Fundamental content creation skills, including social media writing, photo editing, and video editing.
- Strong knowledge of the sports landscape, including current athletes, rules, events, and ESPN programming.
- Ability to connect with and grow an audience of women's sports fans, considering elements like voice and representation.
- Understanding of internet pop culture's intersection with sports.
- Demonstrated communication and organization skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong news judgment.
- Experience using video editing software (e.g., Final Cut, Premiere).
- Experience using photo editing software (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign).
Education:
