Remote Video Operator
As a Remote Video Operator, you will be responsible for supporting the engineering and technical operations of live remote broadcasts. Your role includes ensuring that cameras are properly shaded, adjusting video levels, and troubleshooting technical issues related to video, cabling, and cameras. You will collaborate with the video team to manage the technical aspects of each broadcast and maintain video equipment during remote events.
Responsibilities:
• Adjust video levels, black/white balance, and color balance across all cameras
• Patch and route video, work with the video team to place monitors for talent and shows
• Troubleshoot and resolve video-related issues (e.g., camera, cabling, lens)
• Manage and organize remote compound video, fiber cable, and source lists
• Plan and develop workflows with Operations and Production partners
• Assist with system design, integration, and setup, including video paths, fiber-linked systems, and digital video compression standards
• Operate video equipment, set up and knock down equipment at event sites
• Use technical skills and communication to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in remote production operations at the network level
• Proficiency in live production equipment, waveform/vectorscope operation (SDI, IP, HD, UHD, HDR formats)
• Experience managing camera look and shading
• Ability to monitor and adjust video signals as needed
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Flexibility to travel and work weekends/holidays as required
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of broadcast equipment and remote production requirements
• Knowledge of fiber optic systems and cabling
Education Requirements:
• High School Diploma required
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
Salary Range:
$67 to $82 per hour, depending on geographic location, experience, and internal equity.
