Fox News Live is looking for a creative, organized, and motivated individual with strong editorial and logistical skills to fill a Freelance Producer position. The Freelance Producer will pitch story ideas, write scripts, help book guests for segments, build graphics, and provide research to the show's anchors. You have the ability to ask tough questions, get the latest elements into a story, and move content forward. Proactively seeking out additional information and pitching stories is critical to success in this position. A natural curiosity about news and strong editorial judgment is a must.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build fast-paced newscasts
• Generate creative ideas for guest segments and pieces
• Communicate daily story development to the executive producer
• Create graphics, write, and perform other editorial and production elements
• Take part in editorial planning
• Help book guest segments/studios
• Work under tight deadlines to produce editorially and visually compelling stories
• Find elements, log events, and identify news developments
• Monitor wires, social media, and other broadcast networks for news developments
• Pitch and execute unique stories often overlooked by other media outlets
• Identify and book knowledgeable experts for the assigned stories
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years of professional experience in a live television environment
• Ability to write effectively and creatively
• Thorough knowledge of domestic politics and business news
• Familiarity with daily developments on Washington-based and political stories
• Strong writing and copy-editing skills
• Ability to work under intense deadline pressure in a newsroom, multitask, and prioritize on a daily basis
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including early morning hours and weekends
• Familiarity with various D.C. government agencies
• Keen understanding of how to set up interviews and gather news
• Ability to work independently, as well as a collaborative team player
• Knowledge of iNews, Outlook, and Dalet is a plus
• Ability to be flexible with your schedule and willing to work both weekdays and weekends

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $45.00-50.00 per hour. We provide Freelancers medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
