The FOX Sport Creative Services department in Los Angeles is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Freelance Unreal Technical Designer to join our high-energy, fast-paced, award-winning team. The Unreal Technical Designer freelancer works collaboratively within our design group to prepare and implement AR and XR features within Unreal Engine. Responsibilities for the Unreal Technical Designer include extrapolating and executing existing creative and may also involve some initial concepting and graphic design work. The Unreal Technical Designer will also contribute to guiding other artists by reviewing Unreal Blueprints and finding efficiencies in the project-building process. As an Unreal Technical Designer on our team, you will be at the forefront of innovation, helping with research and development of new technology, to broaden the design and technical tools available to the FS Creative Services real-time team. You will be actively involved in advancing new concepts to take AR and XR graphics to the next level for sports broadcasts.

This is an IATSE daily hire position and requires membership in the Union.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conceptualize and execute new AR/XR features
• Work collaboratively across multiple disciplines, including design, software development, and engineering
• Work with the real-time team to establish guidelines for project building
• Model, texture, light, and rig assets and environments for AR/XR executions
• Design and implement animation control systems through Unreal Blueprints
• Optimize scenes to maintain minimum performance levels
• Contribute to maintaining the standards established for a project
• Assist in the development and implementation of testing procedures
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Participate in ongoing workflow enhancements

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• 3+ years of experience in broadcast design or game development
• Proficiency working in real-time rendering software
• Deep knowledge of Unreal Engine
• Expert understanding of Unreal Blueprints
• Great organizational skills and motivated to work in a creative team environment
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to engage in written and verbal communication within and across departments
• Ability to jump into an existing project started by a vendor or another member of the team
• Ability to work within strict timelines in an organized manner
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Capability to multitask and work effectively in a time-sensitive, high-pressure environment

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER
• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Game Development, Software Engineering, or related fields
• Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling platforms, Substance 3D and RizomUV
• Experience with Reality Engine or other compositing systems
• Some programming skills

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $84,500.00-110,000.00 annually. We provide Freelancers medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
