The Entertainment Law Intern will provide administrative and paralegal support to entertainment lawyer, Gary A. Watson. Gary's practice covers all aspects of entertainment law, including film, television, theater and music (see below for the biography and resume for Gary A. Watson, Esq.). The Intern will have exposure to the creative, business and legal aspects of the entertainment industry. The Intern's responsibilities will include such administrative and paralegal support as answering phones, managing calls, managing calendar, drafting e-mail, correspondence and documents, word processing, creating spread sheets, billing and collections, ordering supplies and maintaining files.
Those who apply for the Entertainment Law Intern position should be mature, responsible, self motivated, hard working, detail oriented, tech savvy, personable and able to work under the pressure of the demands of deadlines and a heavy work load. Applicants should type 60 words per minute or more and have strong proofreading skills. Applicants should have experience with, and ideally a strong working knowledge of, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Applicants should have excellent phone skills. Experience in billing and collections is preferred, but not essential. Applicants should posses the ability to learn quickly and with a minimal amount of training.
The position is for work in the office, and therefore is not a ''remote'' internship.
Salary/Benefits
The Entertainment Law Internship is voluntary and unpaid. No benefits will be provided for gas, for parking or otherwise. With respect to obtaining school credit for the internship, good faith efforts will be made to provide whatever documentation and/or information may be needed to do the same.
Your proposal should:
1. Acknowledge that the internship is unpaid.
2. Indicate your interest in an unpaid internship and your willingness to handle any administrative, secretarial, and paralegal work available. Include your resume.
3. Specify the internship period (start and end dates), the days, times, and hours you can intern, and guarantee your availability. Also, mention when you can come for an in-person interview (required, and costs will not be covered).
4. Indicate the type of experience you wish to gain and whether you will receive school credit for the internship. Provide details on what is required from both you and me to obtain school credit, along with supporting documentation.
I am looking for interns who seek school credit and can commit to at least 16 hours per week during the school term and 40 hours per week during the summer for a minimum of 10 weeks (the longer, the better).
