Director, Content & Social Media (GSV)
About the Position
The Golden State Valkyries are looking for a Director to help oversee all aspects of team content and social media to drive brand health and create revenue opportunities via digital channels. In this role, you will lead the Content and Social Media teams to lead content marketing strategy and deliver brand excellence and consistency through all marketing touchpoints. You will partner closely with the other Marketing verticals to help conceptualize and develop the organization's visual and written communication, and lead strategy for the team's social media channels.
We need someone who is a creative force to leverage marketing communications, storytelling and innovation to build and grow the creative team. This position will be hands-on in the execution of all forms of creative content across static and motion with primary distribution channels being in-arena and social media. This position reports to the Vice President, Marketing and may involve travel and non-traditional work hours.

This is a full-time position based onsite in Oakland, CA with time spent in San Francisco for game days.
Key Responsibilities
• Set and lead social media strategy for the Golden State Valkyries
• Plan, program and deliver on social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Weibo), video/audio sites (YouTube), and direct messaging (Viber)
• Collaborate with Corporate Partnerships and vendors to build all social media content creation, campaigns, and calendars to achieve shared marketing goals
• Partner with Growth and Retention team on paid campaigns that overlap between brand and advertising
• Lead strategic campaign development from inception to execution for Valkyries brand initiatives as well as department initiatives to increase fan satisfaction, community engagement, and revenue
• Lead in-house graphic design and videography team to deliver on creative needs for the organization
• Drive the direction and development of the Valkyries' in-house content and creative strategy and execution across a variety of marketing touchpoints
• Inspire the voice of the Golden State Valkyries brand across media
• Deliver data driven work and partner with Analytics, Growth & Retention teams to deliver highly engaging content to a targeted audience
• Manage freelancers, creative agencies and corporate partners to fulfill business objectives
• Provide hands-on content and production support assigned for various media platforms
• Brainstorm new concepts and content franchises within the Content team for possible new revenue streams
• Drive development of the team's content calendar, collaborate and communicate with all partners
• Collaborate with internal groups to determine project requirements, understand business objectives, and audience demographics
• Other duties as assigned
Required Experience & Skills
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Marketing, or equivalent experience
• 7 years in digital media with experience leading social media strategy and driving implementation/execution
• Minimum 2 years of people management experience; ability to lead a positive culture and develop a team with a strong focus on individual growth
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Drupal and Photoshop, as well as in HTML and CSS coding
• Expert knowledge of current and emerging social media platforms; ability to influence conversation based on knowledge and expertise
• Deep understanding of the game of basketball and the team including game day events, statistics and other updates
• Ability to build positive working relationships with clients and peers at all levels within the organization
• Excellent written and verbal communication, service and resolution skills
• Excellent problem solving, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to balance multiple projects at once in a fast-paced work environment
• Ability to provide a demo reel or portfolio of creative work samples
Time Commitment
• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule as evenings and weekend work shifts may be required
Compensation
• $108,000 - 114,000 Bonus
