As an A&R Research Intern at GoodTalk, your primary responsibility will be to conduct research and analysis to support the A&R team's efforts in identifying and signing new talent. Some of the specific tasks you may be involved in as an A&R research intern include:
Responsibilities:
Market Research: Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging trends, popular genres, and new artists in the music industry. Stay up to date with the latest developments and shifts in the music landscape.
Artist Discovery: Utilize various platforms, including streaming services, social media, and industry blogs, to identify promising artists that align with our label's vision and musical direction.
Data Analysis: Analyze data from streaming platforms, social media, and other sources to identify up-and-coming artists and track their growth. Use this information to inform decision-making processes.
Competitive Analysis: Conduct competitive analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses of competitors in the music industry. Identify opportunities for differentiation and market positioning.
Artist Evaluation: Evaluate artist submissions, demos, and music releases. Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to the A&R team based on artistic potential, marketability, and alignment with our label's brand.
Assist in Artist Development: Collaborate with the A&R team to provide research-backed insights during artist development discussions. Contribute to the planning and execution of artist projects, including studio sessions, collaborations, and promotional strategies.
Database Management: Maintain and update artist and project databases, including contact lists, release schedules, and project timelines. Ensure accuracy and organization of information for efficient retrieval and reference.
Requirements:
Passion for music, specifically Hip-Hop and R&B genres.
Strong research and analytical skills, with an ability to identify trends and patterns. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Familiarity with streaming platforms, social media, and music industry blogs. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Must be available for the spring term: Feb-May (4 month Internship)
Internship is for college credit only

Time/Days Required: 10 hours per week
