POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the Director of Public Relations - Nightlife & Events is to develop and implement the media relations strategy involving nightlife, daylife and events for Hakkasan Group's venues. Applicant should have at least five years of public relations experience; working in nightlife/entertainment/celebrities/hospitality/travel/F&B publicity, agency experience is preferred. Candidates will have established national, regional and local media and events contacts and is responsible for creating and implementing strategic public relations plans designed to enhance the reputations of Hakkasan Group venues in Las Vegas and the US, and supporting company messages and initiatives. The Director of Public Relations - Nightlife & Events will prepare and distribute news releases, media alerts, event sheets, fact sheets, scripts, etc. to media outlets. Supervise assigned media relations/public relations projects, manage key resource materials, oversee internal PR team and multiple national PR agencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Reports to and works closely with EVP of Marketing
Responsible for day-to-day management of internal PR team (PR Manager and PR Coordinator), local and national PR Agencies
Creates and writes PR plans, strategies, pitches, press releases, bios and fact sheets, and promotions
Leads the planning, coordinating and implementing press conferences, red carpets, media and special events for nightlife and daylife venues
Develop and write press releases, press kit materials, fact sheets, biographies and advisories
Prepare monthly activity and progress reports, budgets, memos and media status reports, and media lists
Provide consistent and successful execution of public relations plans including story creation, materials development, media targeting, media pitching, coordination, fulfillment and internal/external communication
Provide consistent coordination and successful execution of public relations plans pertaining to special events, red carpets, celebrity events etc.
Developed relationships and comprehensive knowledge of core media
Strategize/implements PR and marketing efforts for new and existing nightlife and daylife venues
Evaluates/coordinates media requests for press materials including images, b-roll, press releases and press kits
Evaluates/coordinates journalist visits, reservations, photo and filming opportunities, promotions, ticket requests, radio remotes and interview requests
Pitches venue offerings, story ideas and promotions to local, regional, national and international media outlets
Oversees coordination of press familiarization (FAM) trips: reservations, development of story ideas, transportation and on-site interaction with journalists
Maintains communication with hotel partners
Field individual media inquiries (screen outlets, negotiate for coverage, extend complimentary experience as deemed appropriate)
Screen photo/TV/film shoot inquiries that are editorial-related, negotiate for coverage, and supervise shoots accordingly (negotiate provisions of the shoots & issue shoot advisories)
Set-up media interviews with representatives as deemed appropriate
Entertain journalists for walk-throughs and meals on an individual basis
Attend departmental staff meetings, nightlife marketing meetings and other meetings as needed
Other duties as directed by Director of PR / VP of Nightlife and key head executives
Manage staff responsible for event coordination activities
Coordinate details of events such as but are not limited to the following: red carpets, celebrity events, anniversaries, charity events, etc.
Prepare invitations and send out at appropriate time
Work with guest of honor or celebrity to ensure all requests are met
Drive attendance to the event
Promote the event with media outreach, VIP/Influencer outreach to spark attention
Analyze event performance and prepare metrics presentation
Define company brand through events
Ensure staff is adequately prepared for event
Ensure day of event goes smoothly
Preparation and distribution of detailed pre-event communications
Support company goal of the event
Provide on-site support and staff special events
Answer inter-office questions regarding event policy and related issues
Direct your particular team to consistently improve on communications and procedures
Consistently project manage and direct all staff towards a team approach
Become a leader and role model for newer employees
Assist management to assure company goals are being met
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor degree in journalism, public relations, communications or marketing preferred
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Minimum of 5-7 years of public relations experience required, agency experience and prior Director position is preferred.
Event experience preferred
Valid Drivers License
Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Hakkasan Group standards
Possession of/or ability to possess a valid NV Alcohol awareness card and NV Health Card
WORKING KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Proficient in MSWord, Excel, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat
Knowledge of media, nightlife, daylife, celebrity, entertainment, travel and hospitality industries
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal presentation skills, solid and accurate writing ability
Solid Web and print research, fact checking and proofing skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with a creative approach
Strong organizational skills a must
Detail-oriented, able to multi-task and handle high-stress situations
Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
Computer experience required including but not limited to MSWord, Excel, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat
Must be able to travel from venue to venue as needed
Willing to work long hours including early morning and late nights, weekends and holidays, in all weather conditions
