Hearst Magazines is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our finance team based out of Charlotte, NC. The Staff Accountant will play an important role within the Subscription Accounting Department while maintaining existing finance operations across all of the Hearst Magazines brands.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
• Preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
• Collect, interpret and evaluate subscription based accounting reports by various service organizations
• Partner with various financial directors across the organization to ensure all operational activities are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities particularly in relation to automation
• Collaborate with management to answer applicable accounting questions
• Coordinate with internal and external audit to assist with annual audits
• Assist with the implementation of a new service organization
• Other Ad hoc projects as needed
• Protect the organization's core competencies and values by keeping information accurate and confidential
• Participating in educational opportunities to continuously develop skills and stay informed of industry trends
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
• BS Degree in Accounting (interest in obtaining CPA a plus)
• 0-3 years of relevant work experience
• Experience with and understanding of debits/credits, income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
• Advanced Excel skills (experience with automation and Power BI a plus)
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively and build relationships across all levels of management
• Self-starter who is detail-oriented, deliverable focused, and well-organized
This role requires the position to be located in Charlotte, NC with an in-office presence of 3 days a week.
