This is a Full Time Job
KCRA 3, the Hearst Television station that is #1 in Northern California, is looking for a dynamic meteorologist/reporter. The successful candidate is engaging, innovative and highly competitive. The KCRA 3 News Team sets a high bar for excellent journalism. We are looking for an accurate forecaster who keep our viewers safe and stay cool under pressure. In-person attendance is required.
Job Duties
• Get viewers ready with accurate, compelling, and understandable forecasts.
• Provide urgent, immediate weather information before and during severe weather events.
• Generate strong story ideas that lead newscasts.
• Develop content that goes beyond surface details, accentuates enterprise angles and has exclusive elements.
• Consistently contribute engaging content on all TV, digital and social platforms throughout the day.
• Operate with unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
Required Skills
• Strong writing and storytelling skills on all platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting.
• Proven on-air experience in handling breaking news and severe weather coverage.
• Proficient in using WSI graphics and other weather technology.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
• Must be a team player who collaborates thoughtfully and respectfully.
Required Qualifications
• 3 or more years of reporting/forecasting experience.
• Minimum bachelor's degree in meteorology or related field.
• Must be willing to work mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Bilingual experience is a plus.
• Military DINFOS experience will be considered.
